Efim Bogoljubow was one of the great players of the first half of twentieth century.
Over a period of more than 15 years he was permanently among the challengers for the world title. He won twice the Soviet championship as well as several super tournaments against an impressive field of rivals.
Bogoljubow played two matches against Alekhine for the World title and became two times FIDE champion, defeating in matches M. Euwe.
